News: Fundraising for Birmingham Children's Hospital, Heart Unit

One of our franchisees, Lyn Warner, has recently been involved in a fundraising appeal for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.  The appeal is on behalf of a little girl called Lara who was born in May 2007 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.  This meant that only half of her heart was functioning and without surgery at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Lara would not have survived.  After two operations within her first six months, Lara will need more surgery at age 4-5 and despite all of this, she will never have a normal heart and may require transplant surgery in adulthood.

Birmingham Children’s Hospital treats thousands of sick children each year and continues to undertake pioneering surgery.  The Hospital needs to raise money to replace a well-used but ageing facility with a new state-of-the-art one and add a second new ‘hybrid’ theatre, the first of its kind in the UK. Money is also needed to provide more beds on the Intensive Care Unit.

In order to help with the many fundraising activities undertaken by Lara’s parents, Lyn Warner is helping to sell a special 2011 calendar produced by friends of Lara’s parents.  These calendars will be available to buy in Lyn’s classes as well as other Rhythm Time classes across the West Midlands.  All support for this worthwhile cause are very gratefully appreciated.  For more information, contact Lyn on 01676 540248.
