News: Rhythm Time delighted to be nominated for Franchisor of the Year
Kathy Doolan, Founder and MD of Rhythm Time music classes for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers, is delighted that she has been nominated for Franchisor of the Year in the National 2016 mumandworking Awards as hosted by Natwest.
"This is great news for Rhythm Time as I'm passionate about encouraging talented people into franchising and providing a rewarding, flexible career that fits around their own personal commitments," says Kathy. "There are some great organisations who have been nominated in these awards so I would like to personally thank everyone who takes the time to vote for us." Votes can be made at www.mumandworking.co.uk/
"We have worked very hard to ensure that our franchisees receive all the flexibility and support they need to be able to run their successful, fun and financially rewarding businesses. All of our franchisees have either family or other lifestyle commitments outside of their work, so, as franchisor, it's my responsibility to ensure that all my franchisees are supported in the best way in order for them to enjoy a genuinely rewarding work/life blend," she adds.
Having a family herself, Kathy also understands first-hand how important flexible working is to her franchisees if they are able to achieve their full potential in running and building profitable and successful businesses of their own.
As such, she is committed to providing the highest levels of personal support using the latest technology to ensure that each and every one of her franchisees has all that they need to build rewarding, successful businesses of their own and in a way that complements their own family or other personal commitments.
In fact, last year Rhythm Time undertook Smith & Henderson's Franchisee Benchmarking Survey 2015 and Kathy's franchisees scored the company 91% overall satisfaction (including 91% satisfaction for Training & Support).
Kathy is extremely flexible when it comes to helping her franchisees whenever they need it (including in the evenings or weekends). She is often on the phone to them in the evenings (eg when they've put their children to bed!) and can provide training at weekends or during the evening. Training can also take the form of screencasts that the franchisees can watch at a time that's convenient to them.
"The availability of screencasts has made training my staff so very much easier but also has kept the ideas and teaching methods uniform for everyone, rather than being diluted between franchisees. It's also freed up a lot of my time as the screencasts are a great source of reference for staff." Frances Donkin, Rhythm Time Franchisee Cheshire.
Operational and technical support is available from the Franchisor every working day (and often outside working hours if required).
Kathy's franchisees never feel like they are on their own and they're encouraged to keep in touch with head office whenever they need anything - big or small.
"One of the best things from my point of view is definitely the advice I receive from head office - especially in a recent difficult situation with a customer. Head Office gave me fantastic advice and guidance so it could have a positive outcome and I could feel good that I had dealt with it in exactly the right way." Rhythm Time Franchisee.
Rhythm Time classes are term-time and during school hours - a huge benefit for our franchisees and their teachers when they have children themselves. The franchisees can then choose whether they want to run occasional and additional classes during the holidays if they are able to.
If a franchisee's child is poorly (but not ill enough to stay in bed, or contagious!), rather than cancel classes, Kathy offers them the flexibility to be able to take their child to the class if they are unable to make last minute childcare arrangements.
When a franchisee joins Rhythm Time, Kathy is happy for them to choose the days and hours they work that suit their own family and life commitments.
When a franchisee is sick, Kathy and the team at head office can remotely help to run their franchise for them during their absence. For example, Kathy's team can book classes and undertake the admin required so that classes don't need to be cancelled, and the franchise can continue to run smoothly.
Also, during any franchisee's sick absence, Kathy will keep in touch with them (at a time convenient to them) to offer ongoing advice and guidance. This provides the franchisee with confidence that things will run smoothly during this difficult time.
Kathy is also flexible if a franchisee wants to set up their business jointly with a member of their family. We have had husband and wife partnerships, as well as mum and daughter! Kathy is open to whatever helps the franchisee perform to the best of their ability!
The mumandworking awards are designed to celebrate examples of how family-friendly working 'works' and how it can bring enormous benefit to all.
